Home Remedies for Itchy Ears

Our ears are full of bacteria that, in principle, do not pose any problem for our health. However, there are several internal factors – extension of pathologies such as pharyngitis, rhinitis or sinusitis to the ears – as well as other external factors – introduction of water into the ear or accumulation of earwax in the auditory ducts – that may lead to the appearance of Inflammations in the interior of this organ and, therefore, of itching in those zones. Home remedies can act as a supplementary treatment to the usual drugs prescribed by specialists.

Relieve itching in the ears with home remedies

A very effective remedy to eliminate itching in the ears is to combine a small spoonful of alcohol with a small spoonful of vinegar, applying the mixture to the affected organ by using a dropper. To enhance its effect, we must lie on the side – leaving the affected ear up – and pull the earlobe to open the ear canal allowing the drops to enter correctly inside. As an alternative to this solution, we can impregnate a swab with this ointment. The ideal treatment should last for three to five days.

Another important home remedy that helps relieve the discomfort associated with itching in the ears has as its main objective the washing, chopping, and crushing of three large apricots. Once this preparation is done, we must warm the resulting paste in a pan and apply it, when it is warm enough, as a poultice on the organ that is affected.

Garlic may be another great home-made alternative to treat itching in the ears. We simply have to soak a clove of garlic in olive oil for a period of about two to three hours. Then warm the combination until it is warm, dip a cotton ball, so that it remains moist and not soaked, and then gently introduce it into the affected ear canal, letting it stand overnight.
